Neonatal hip ultrasound
Neonatal hip ultrasound is a standard examination method used for the early detection of congenital hip malalignments or maturation disorders (hip dysplasia). If recognized early, these can be treated effectively (e.g. with an abduction brace). In Germany, neonatal hip ultrasound is a standard screening test (U3) covered by the insurers. It may only be performed by a qualified physician.
